Retreat for Artists, Photographers, and Writers

With Iron Mountain Studio we have attempted to develop an atmosphere for artists that allows them to create. The directors of Iron Mountain Studio, a writer and a painter/photographer, believe that an interrelationship between a beautiful environment, friendly people, and solitude can help foster a creative period for the artist. The house that is now Iron Mountain Studio was built in the historical medieval village of Santu Lussurgiu in 1784. The directors bought it in 2002 as a summer studio/vacation house while they were still living in Florence, Italy. After moving to Santu Lussurgiu full-time in 2005, they lived in it for two years until they finished renovating another stone house just down the the street. The studio has been renovated and modernized, but still retains its beauty and charm as you can see from the photograph. It is easy to walk out of the village into the countryside anytime one wants.

Iron Mountain Studio is best suited for one person or two people, or a couple. It is on three floors with an open layout. For more information about the house and included amenities, like easels, and computers, take our tour.

Sometimes during an art retreat, writers, painters, and photographers find it useful to explore thoughts and ideas with other artists. Although this retreat is not a workshop, but a time for your creating, if around and available, the directors are glad meet and discuss painting progress, or ideas, or writing issues as they develop during your stay. To find out more about them, see the about us page.
